Parties deplore Lok Sabha incidents

Special Correspondent

Hope all sides will set standards

NEW DELHI: Political parties on Thursday deplored the incident of near physical clash inside the Lok Sabha and hoped all sides would set standards for proper behaviour in Parliament.

The Congress said it was opposed to any acts of omission, which would bring either of the Houses into disrepute and lower its dignity. Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said the party would appeal to everyone not to use wrong words.

The Communist Party of India said it deplored the incident and said the acts had brought disrespect to the institution. Party leader Gurudas Dasgupta said it would strongly urge all political parties to set standards of behaviour in the House, since there had been a decline in it.

Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav said the issue had been sorted out, with both sides having realised their mistake.

He disagreed with the move by Prabhunath Singh to resign and said there was no need to take such a step since both sides "realised their mistake."
