Assault on teacher condemned

Thiruvananthapuram: Prominent literary and cultural personalities in the city have condemned the assault on a teacher by a section of students of the Sanskrit College here on Tuesday for wearing a rakhi on his arm.

In a press note issued here on Wednesday, they said the assault was despicable and an affront to the individual freedom of the teacher.

The press note said the rakhi was a symbol of patriotism and friendship. The signatories to the press note include Vishnu Narayanan Namboodiri, Sugathakumari, B. Hridayakumari, R.R.Nandakumar, N.Paramasivan nair and J.Ramachandran Nair.
