Special Correspondent
Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat has urged the Government to set up the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the district. A resolution adopted by the panchayat on Wednesday said it would provide the necessary land from the farms under its control. Moving the official resolution, district panchayat president Aanavoor Nagappan called on the Government and the Agriculture department to approve the release of land for the prestigious project. He said the IIT would provide a fillip to the education sector in Kerala. The meeting decided to start work on approved projects. Mr. Nagappan said action would be taken against those responsible for delaying the file relating to the purchase of fans and other essential items for the Ayurveda Hospital at Varkala.
