Senior citizen seeks return of money

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : A 76-year-old man on Tuesday petitioned K.V.S. Murthy, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), who is holding additional charge as Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner, for return of the money taken away by his son-in-law. In his complaint, the senior citizen, A.S. Manoharan had stated that six years ago he had given Rs 5.5 lakh to his son-in-law S. Venkatesan, an employee of the postal department, to deposit the cash in Mr Manoharan's name.

However, the son-in-law had deposited the cash in his own name and refused to repay the money. Following this the septuagenarian had approached the police to get his money back.
