`Pookalam' to celebrate Onam

It is time to celebrate the spirit of Onam, Kerala's harvest festival. Malayala Manorama in association with OKJ, Akbar Travels, Arogya Milk and Indian Oil conducted a `Pookalam' (flower arrangement) festival on August 20.

The organisers received more than 200 entries. From this, 54 were shortlisted and they prepared elaborate flower arrangements at Chettinad Vidyashram on August 20. Judges comprising hoteliers, industrialists and event managers selected the winner based on the usage of flowers, colour combination, design and overall appeal.

The winners will be announced at a function to be held in Music Academy on August 27. The best flower arrangement will get a Rs.10,001 cash prize.
