PWD Minister back in action after surgery
Durai Murugan
The Public Works Minister Durai Murugan, who underwent a bypass surgery last month, is back to work.
After the Budget session of the Assembly began on July 22, Mr. Murugan came to the House for the first time on Monday. A host of leaders of different parties, led by the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, greeted him. [During the period of absence, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi handled his portfolio.]
In the last one and a half months, Mr. Murugan had to miss two events, which he would have otherwise cherished very much. The Minister, who has been representing Katpadi in Vellore district, could not make it to a function in early July in connection with the 200th anniversary of the Vellore Rebellion.
Also, he was not present when a function was organised last week near Uthukottai to mark the arrival of Krishna water to Tamil Nadu.
