`Garbage dumping posing health hazards'

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party politburo member T. Devender Goud on Friday said the garbage being dumped by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad at Jawaharnagar in Shamirpet mandal was posing health hazards to residents and should be stopped at the earliest.

Inaugurating a free dental camp here at Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS), Jawaharnagar, he said the garbage dump had made the locality a breeding place for houseflies and mosquitoes. The locality was lacking basic amenities including transportation, drinking water and proper roads.

Branding the Congress Government as an agent in the hands of real estate dealers, Mr. Goud alleged that the Government had failed to assist the poor. The TDP would stage a dharna on August 22 at Indira Park demanding compensation for the loss suffered by farmers in the Outer Ring Road project, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, ACDS principal M.S. Gowd said the college was open to all in terms of service and was not confined to Army people alone.
