Prime Minister to address them in Bangalore, says Dharam Singh

HYDERABAD: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh has said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would address a meeting of Hindi-speaking people from southern States in Bangalore after the monsoon session of Parliament.

Addressing freedom fighters at a convention organised here on Saturday by the Institute of Historical Research of Freedom Struggle, of which he is the president, Mr. Singh said the institute had the onerous responsibility of promoting Hindi.

He continued to be its president precisely to discharge this duty.

Left speechless

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, K. Keshava Rao, said he was often left speechless at meetings of freedom fighters as he was overwhelmed by their immense contribution to the nation. He offered financial assistance to the institute for completion of the unfinished volumes of Indian history which was taken up for research and publication.

Former Uttar Pradesh Governor B. Satyanarayan Reddy and president of Andhra Pradesh Freedom Fighters Association Katam Laxminarayana also spoke.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, who was scheduled to address the convention, could not attend.
