Figurine maker's murder case solved, 2 held

HYDERABAD: The city police on Friday solved the mystery surrounding the murder of 25-year-old Mohd. Amjad by arresting Syed Ghouse alias Chotu and his associate U. Ravi Kumar.

The victim, belonging to Nawab Saheb Kunta, was found with severe knife wounds at Tadbund junction in Kalapather on August 10. The assailants allegedly inflicted eight stab wounds on Amjad, a manufacturer of figurines made with black metal in the old city, and fled from the spot. He died on the spot.

Grudge against victim

According to the police, Chotu bore a grudge against Amjad after he misbehaved with his wife six months ago and hatched a plan to eliminate him. Chotu then gave Rs.5,000 to Ravi for helping him in the crime. Chotu and Ravi intercepted Amjad at Tadbund junction while he was returning home and picked up an argument with him.

Kin's tip-off helps police

The duo later overpowered Amjad and attacked him. "We cracked the mystery with help of a tip-off given by the victim's relatives," in-charge Inspector of Kalapather N. Satyanarayana said. The police recovered the weapons used in the crime.

Police inquiries revealed that Chotu (34) resides at Nawab Saheb Kunta while Ravi (24) belongs to West Godavari district. They were working in a bangle store.
