BANGALORE: Following a petty quarrel, a 26-year-old man was hacked to death by a three-member gang in Jalahalli police station limits. The police gave the name of the dead as Kiran, a resident of Lottegollahalli. He worked as a taxi driver with a private travel agency in Vidyaranyapura. According to the police, a few days ago Kiran reportedly spoke ill of another driver Subbaramaiah in front of his colleagues. Around 8.45 p.m. on Wednesday, Mr. Subbaramaiah's brother-in-law Umesh confronted Kiran at the travel agency and abused him for making comments against his relative. Following heated exchange of words, Kiran slapped Umesh and forced him to leave the place. While Kiran was returning home, around 10.45 p.m., Umesh and two others allegedly attacked him with swords and choppers near Doddabommasandra arch. Passers-by rushed Kiran to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. He died there around 1.30 a.m. on Thursday, the police said. The Jalahalli police registered a case.
Contractor robbed
Three men waylaid a contractor and robbed him of $ 150, a gold chain and a mobile phone in Tilaknagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that after attending a party at Koramangala Club, Madhusudhan was driving in his car towards his house in Dollars Colony in J.P. Nagar. On his way home, he stopped his car on 28th Main, T Block, Jayanagar, as a man suddenly came on to the road. Suddenly three men surrounded the car and forcibly boarded the vehicle. After travelling some distance, they threatened Madhusudhan with a knife and robbed him. The three got down at the same place where they had boarded the car, the police added. The Tilaknagar police have registered a case.
Chain snatched
Two men, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 35,000 from a woman in Girinagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 8.45 p.m., the two snatched the chain from Bharathi, a resident of 2nd Main, Nagendra Block, while she was walking towards her shop on the 6th Main. The Girinagar police have registered a case.
Motorist killed
Siddaraju (41) was killed after a lorry rammed his scooter on Outer Ring Road in Kengeri Satellite Town around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The police said Siddaraju, who runs a public call office (PCO) in Vijayanagar, was returning home at Vinayakanagar in Kengeri Satellite Town when the accident occurred. The Kengeri traffic police have seized the lorry and registered a case.
