BANGALORE:
The Bangalore division of South Western Railway on Thursday started Yeshwanthpur-Howrah parcel cargo service, leased out to Gati Cargo Ltd. Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Mangal flagged off the service. The railways has been leasing out cargo services under the new public-private partnership policy to transport bulk cargo from major cities. Gati Cargo will load electrical, electronic, surgical and readymade garments for six days in the train in parcel vans of 25 tonnes. The company is operating Yeshwanthpur-Nizamuddin cargo service on all days.
