Orders release of 50,000 power connections in dry land areas

AUGUST OPENING: A pujari performs puja as Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy takes over the seat in his new chambers in the Secretariat on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy moved into the swank new office chambers in the high security `C' block of the Secretariat on Thursday.

Dr. Reddy entered the office around noon amidst chanting of Vedic hymns and prayers by Christian and Muslim religious leaders. Puja was also performed. He immediately signed a file ordering the release of 50,000 new power connections to agricultural pumpsets in dry land areas.

He also ordered release of another one lakh connections under the tatkal scheme. An added feature to the new location from security point of view is installation of a door, which blocks the view to the Chief Minister's chambers in place of the glass door that existed earlier.
