R. Srivatchan
Most of the car owners have neither time nor patience to care for their vehicles. President of Car Care Business division of My TVS, R. Srivatchan, in an interview with V.S. Palaniappan says his firm relies on the slogan `Buy a car, fill the tank and keep driving it, we will take care of the maintenance and all other services'. Today automobile market is highly evolving. There are more than one leading player in the car market. Dealers are brand-specific in servicing their clients. In some cases a customer might have more than one car belonging to two brands. Customers have neither time nor patience and even if they have them, knowing the technology to maintain the vehicle would be lacking among a larger section of the car owners. Hence, My TVS is driven by customer mindset and needs. Introducing his firm, Mr. Srivatchan says the concept of My TVS is to establish an independent after sale customer care centre providing integrated service solutions for multi-brand cars. The core business will be evolving around customer centric needs rather than dealer specific business modules. The prefixing of "My" is just to signify the relationship that the company wants to build with the customer, he pointed out. "For ages TVS has stood as a synonym for Trust - Value - Service by virtue of having set standards and benchmark in quality. This is what is taking My TVS to more and more customers for taking care of their cars."At present, My TVS takes care of routine, regular periodical maintenance of cars, 24 hours emergency assistance for breakdowns and accidents. This particular service has become a boon for car owners who get stranded on road. The preventive annual maintenance contracts added with courtesy car service (spare car) ensured total mobility for the My TVS member car users. Valuation of used cars for buying and selling them is another core business area being developed by My TVS. In this the firm plays a key role in identifying a genuine car true to the claims of the seller and a genuine buyer. The genuineness of the documents is also verified before clinching the deal for customers. The transaction does not end with sale or purchase of used cars it stretches right up to transfer of documents. Finance for cars and insurance cover are also being arranged. In a tie-up with financial institutions used cars are also given an overdraft facility. Thus the spectrum of services encompasses most of the requirements of car users. In future, My TVS has plans to introduce the concept of "valet parking and pick up and drop service for convenient mobility" thus providing drivers of car owners to get dropped at railway stations and airports. This is to help car owners avoid the risk of parking their cars at these parking lots for more than a day. In Tamil Nadu My TVS has 47 outlets besides 150 to 175 authorised carriages offering 24x7 emergency services besides 12 outlets for dealing with used car sales. Today, in Tamil Nadu, the firm deals with annual maintenance contracts for 7,000 cars per month, emergency breakdown and accident service for a minimum of 500 cars per month besides 200 numbers of used car sales. In Kerala there are 17 service centres and eight used car sale centres. To augment its turnover from Rs. 75 crore to Rs. 100 crore and to become a major brand in this segment by 2010, My TVS has plans to set up shops in Bangalore and to enhance its presence in Andhra Pradesh.
