Jobs, big salaries on offer for pilots
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The Madras Flying Club (MFC) on Saturday organised a half-day seminar on job opportunities for pilots, the requirements, training period and its costs, and expected salaries.
"The flying profession currently in India is not only in great demand but paying too. What you need is a three dimensional view: correct perception, a science background, management skills and above all aptitude and discipline to become a good pilot," said A. Ranganathan, a senior Boeing Training Commander.
R. Nandkumar, honorary secretary, appealed to student aspirants wanting to pursue flying as a career to join one of the premier and oldest flying clubs, MFC, which was started in 1930.
To obtain a Commercial Pilot's Licence, a student has to log 200 hours of flying as stipulated by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and clear the theory subjects.
While the cost of flying is Rs. 3,900 per hour, the ground classes cost about Rs. 25,000 with a joining fee of Rs.5,400.
The basic educational pre-requisite is a 10 plus 2 pass with Mathematics and Physics.
