Burglary in Valasaravakkam

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Unidentified persons barged into a locked house at Kurinji Nagar under the Valasaravakkam police station limits and escaped with valuables.

The police said that one Pathak (65) of Kurinji Nagar near Ramavaram had gone to Coimbatore on some private work with his family members a week ago.

When he returned home alone on Tuesday, he found the locks broken open and valuables missing.

The exact details of missing valuables would be known only when Pathak's wife returned from Coimbatore, an investigating officer said.

Meanwhile, fingerprints have been lifted from the scene of crime and Valasaravakkam police are investigating.

Fire in school

Fire and Rescue Services personnel put out the fire, which broke out in a school in Alwarthirunagar area on Tuesday. Several computers were reportedly destroyed in the mishap. The exact cause for the fire was under investigation. The value of the property lost was also being assessed.

There was no casualty, police said and further investigation is on.
