Basketball
Coimbatore: Indian Overseas Bank (Chennai), the lone team from TN pulled out of the 42nd all-India men's basketball tournament which began on Monday. IOB was drawn to meet Western Railway in its opening league on Tuesday. This, according to PSG Sports Club, the organisers of the event, sparked the problem. "They wanted a change in the fixtures. We declined as we felt the other teams might protest. We explained our difficulty but they refused to accept," says P. Palaniswamy, the secretary of the Club. IOB had defeated Western Railway by a point (79-78) in the semifinal league of the recently concluded Chennai tournament.
