MADURAI: The State conference of the World Social Forum, to be held in the city on August 12 and 13, will discuss eight major issues, including fundamentalism, anti-war and unfair trade agreement. The State convenor of the Tamil Nadu Social Forum, Sheelu, told reporters here on Tuesday that over 1,000 people were expected to participate in the conference organised at Lady Doak College. Apart from over 40 seminars on key issues, the conference would also feature screening of documentary films on how globalisation affected India in various spheres. A rally would be taken out on the second day in which hundreds of people were expected to participate. This would be a preparatory meeting for the Indian Social Forum conference scheduled for November that would discuss issues to be raised at the World Social Forum at Nairobi next year.
