Fake job offers racket busted, 4 arrested
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
Four persons, including three Nigerian nationals, were arrested by a team of the Mohali and Delhi police on Sunday for allegedly cheating a young man of over Rs. 33,000 on the pretext of getting him a job in the United Kingdom through the British Council.
The Mohali police received a complaint from Manpreet Singh alleging that he had been cheated. He received an e-mail asking him to deposit £380 (Rs. 33,560) in a bank account.
Mr. Singh checked the British Council's website and came across a warning about bogus e-mails offering jobs.
