TAKING STOCK: Chief Minister Kumaraswamy surveying flood-affected areas on Saturday.
GULBARGA: Incessant rain in the Hyderabad Karnataka region forced Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to cancel his tour of some of the flood-affected areas on the banks of the Krishna and the Bhima in Gulbarga and Raichur districts and instead undertake an aerial survey of the flooded agriculture fields and villages on the banks of the two rivers. He was scheduled to visit some of the flood-affected villages in Raichur district and Hire Mannur village in Afsalpur taluk in Gulbarga district on Saturday. Accompanied by senior officials, including Development Commissioner A.K. Agarwal and Finance Secretary Subramanya, he flew low over the flood-affected villages on the banks of the Krishna and the Bhima in an Indian Air Force helicopter and witnessed the havoc caused by the flood . The Chief Minister also flew over the Narayanpur Dam in Surpur taluk of Gulbarga district from where more than 3.5 lakh cusecs of water was being released.
