Reforms impress NAAC

VISAKHAPATNAM: Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) V.S. Prasada Rao on Monday complimented the Andhra University administration for its several initiatives as part of reforms.

He was speaking at a meeting organised in the School of Economics after releasing a book on `Labour Force Participation and Economic Development' and a quarterly newsletter published by the university.

Dr. Rao said AU had produced several men of letters in social sciences in general and economics in particular and thanked the administration for its efforts to improve academic standards and introduce socially relevant courses.

He also called for better interaction between the institutes of higher learning and the industries.

The book's author, M. Prasada Rao, said India would be in a better position than China to emerge as a super economic power by having the advantage of growth in the number of working age population.

Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy, Dean, Student Affairs, R. Sudarsana Rao, AU newsletter editor Nirupa Rani and Head, Department of Economics K. Sriram Murthy spoke.
