NEW DELHI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry will set up five core groups to examine issues agitating the film industry.

This was announced by I&B Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi at an interaction with representatives of the industry here on Saturday.

The groups will look into export of films, an issue that will have to be worked out in coordination with the Ministries of Commerce and Industry, piracy of films and film exhibition.

The other issues that will be addressed pertain to development and preservation of archives, tax-related concerns, particularly uniformity in entertainment taxes and customs duties, and film festivals in India and abroad.

To have representatives

The groups will have representatives from the film industry, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry. Saturday's meeting will be followed by similar interactions in Chennai and Kolkata to draw the regional perspective.
