Court issues contempt notices to Collector, RDO

Hyderabad: The High Court on Friday issued notice to Nalgonda District Collector Vijayanand and the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Nalgonda, asking them to explain why action should not be taken against them for contempt of court.

Justice P. S. Narayana observed that the behaviour of the two officers was highly condemnable. They had shown total disrespect to the orders passed by the court, the Judge said.

Both the revenue officials have allegedly ignored the order passed by the Judge with regard to review of electoral rolls in Bibinagar in the district.

The single Judge had passed the orders on June 12 and signed the judgement on June 14 asking the Collector to review the electoral rolls.

Affidavit filed

The Collector had filed an affidavit stating that on June 14 itself he had reviewed the orders passed by him earlier, whereas the judge did not even sign the judgement by that time. -- UNI
