Rain plays spoilsport

VISAKHAPATNAM: The second and final day`s play in the round-robin match between East Godavari and Srikakulam in the ACA North Zone under-15 inter-district tournament was completely washed out on Friday. Each team received one point.

K. Dinesh Reddy cracked an unbeaten century (101, 14x4) for East Godavari on the first day.

Easy for Vizag

In the other match, Visakhapatnam recorded an innings and 77-run win over Vizianagaram on the first day itself, with G. Chiranjeevi finishing with a match haul of 11 wickets, including six in the second innings. L. Kiran claimed five wickets for five runs in the first innings. Ch. Praneeth Kumar scored a fine unbeaten knock of 73 for Visakhapatnam.

The scores:

East Godavari 263 for five decl. in 68.3 overs (K. Dinesh Reddy 101 n.o., I. Siva Kumar 45) vs. Srikakulam 65 for no loss in 14 overs. Final day's play abandoned due to rain.

Vizianagaram 36 in 20.2 overs (G. Chiranjeevi five for 18, L. Kiran five wickets for five runs) and 37 in 19.1 overs (Chiranjeevi six for 19) lost to Visakhapatnam 150 for one in 29 overs (Ch. Praneeth Kumar 73 n.o., M.U.B. Sriram 42).

CMCA inaugurated

India women's cricket captain S. Mithali Raj inaugurated the Chaitanya Mithali Cricket Association at Chaitanya Residential High School (Uppal) in Hyderabad on Friday. Nooshin-al-Khader, another member of the Indian team, was also present.
