Sareen holds Zuniga

NEW DELHI: Vishal Sareen held second seeded Grandmaster Julio Granda Zuniga of Peru to continue his impressive run in the Balaguer International Open chess tournament at Balaguer, Spain, on Thursday.

Abhijeet Gupta defeated Georgian Woman Grandmaster Ana Matnadze to move to 3.5 points, behind leaders Vladimir Baklan and Alder Escobar Forero (4 each).

The results (involving Indians): Fourth round: P. Konguvel (2.5) lost to Aleksander Delchev (Bul, 3.5); Herman van Reimsdijk (Bra, 3) drew with S. Satyapragyan (3); Ana Matnadze (Geo, 2.5) lost to Abhijeet Gupta (3.5); Julio Granda Zuniga (Per, 2.5) drew with Vishal Sareen (3); Nieves Garcia Vincente (Esp, 2) lost to S. Kidambi (3); Roguelina Fandino (Cub, 2) lost to Lanka Ravi (3); Dinesh Sharma (3) bt Boris Bruned (Esp, 2); Abhyudaya Rajpurohit (2) lost to Luis Jose Vilela (Cub, 3); G.N.
