GM India sales up 53 p.c. in June
CHENNAI:
General Motors India, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, sold 3,346 units in June 2006 against 2,183 cars in the same month last year, a growth of 53 per cent. The June 2006 sales comprise of 1,961 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 379 units of Chevrolet Optra and 1,006 units of Chevrolet Aveo. Gearing up for a major ramp up, the company's Halol facility in Gujarat is undergoing an expansion drive to enhance its capacity to 85,000 units by the end of this year to cater to the increased demand for Chevrolet brand of vehicles.
