KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court of Nepal on Sunday ordered the Government to release two Ministers of the King's Cabinet, who were under detention on the charge of conspiring against the people's movement. A division bench of Justices Sarada Prasad Pandit and Badri Kumar Basnet ordered the release of the former Home Minister, Kamal Thapa, and the former Local Development Minister, Tanka Dhakal. Both are staunch supporters of King Gyanendra. Mr. Thapa and Mr. Dhakal, along with three other Ministers, were detained on May 12 under the recommendation of the high level commission formed by the Government to investigate the abuse of power during the royal regime.
