SHIMOGA: Six persons, including three women and two children, died on the spot and five were injured seriously when a van by which they were travelling collided with a private bus around 6.45 p.m. near Abbalagere, about 10 km from here. At least 10 persons were travelling in the van towards Shikaripur when the accident occurred. The injured were shifted to the Mcgann Hospital in Shimoga. Superintendent of Police Arun Chakravarthy and Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrasekhar rushed to the spot and made arrangements for shifting the injured persons to the hospital. The bodies of the victims, who were yet to be identified, were shifted to the Mcgann General Hospital for post-mortem.
Traffic disrupted
Traffic on Shimoga-Sowlanga Road, which was affected for some time following the accident, was restored after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the spot.
Three killed near Hubli
PTI reports from Hubli Three persons were killed on the spot and 35 were injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus rammed a lorry at Bhadrapur village on Hubli-Gadag National Highway in the early hours of Sunday, the police said. The injured have been admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, the police added.
