District Raising Star beats Hindustan Zinc

ISAKHAPATNAM: Raising Star Club, Gnanapuram, defeated Hindustan Zinc 2-0 in a first round match of the second Dr. Ambedkar football tournament at the Police Stadium here on Monday.

Both goals came late in the match. Rajesh found the target midway through the second half and Vijay scored 10 minutes later.

In the inaugural match on Sunday, Kasim Memorial FC, consisting of trainees of SAI STC at Kurnool prevailed over President's XI 1-0. G. Satish scored off a penalty corner late in the game.

District-level chess

The All-Vizag District Chess Association and the East Coast Chess Academy are organising a district-level rapid chess tournament for men and women at the Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium here on May 27 and 28. Special prizes will be awarded in the age group categories. Entries close on May 26 and registration can be done through e-mail at avdca_chess@yahoo.co.in or at the venue.
