BANGALORE: A day after a woman and two children were murdered, a young woman was stabbed to death under mysterious circumstances at a house where she was staying as a paying guest in Lazar Layout in Fraser Town police station limits on Monday. According to police, Alia (25) was staying with another girl Bercha, a native of Nagaland, in a room on the first floor of Parveen Taj's house. There were five other women who were also staying as paying guests in the house. On Sunday, Bercha, who studies music, informed Alia that she will stay in her friend's house and return on Monday. When Bercha came on Monday evening and knocked the door, she did not get any response. She opened the door to find her friend dead. The Fraser Town police, who came to the spot, found that Alia was stabbed around her neck. Her mobile phone and some valuable articles were missing from the room. The police shifted her body to Victoria Hospital. The police found an application filed by Alia seeking a job, wherein she had mentioned that she was a resident of Vivek Nagar. The police could not find anybody in the address given by Alia.
Two girls drowned
Two girls who had gone to wash their hands in a pond drowned on Tuesday in Garvebhavipalya in Madiwala police station limits. Police gave the names of the girls as Ashwini (9) and Monica (11). According to police, Ashwini went to the pond after lunch to wash her hands. Her friend Monica also followed her. Both drowned in the water. The bodies of the two girls were removed in the evening, the police said.
Arrested
The Banasawadi police have arrested two persons on charges of committing burglary and recovered Rs. 5 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments from them. The police gave the names of the accused as Velu (25) of Subbayyanapalya and Javed (25) of Bharatinagar. The accused were reportedly involved in six cases of burglary reported from Kumaraswamy Layout, Subramanyapura, Mico Layout, Talaghatpura, and Bannerghatta police station limits. The R.T. Nagar police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in a case of burglary and three cases of theft of mobile phones. The police have recovered three two-wheelers and 11 mobile phones. The police gave the names of accused as Inayatullah (22) of Chamundinagar, Babu (26), Sheik Abdullah (21), Nayaz (20), all from R.T. Nagar.
Recovered
The S.J. Park police have arrested two persons on charges of stealing two-wheelers and recovered three vehicles from them. The police gave the names of the accused as Nadeem (23) of Tilaknagar and Shafiq (20) of Ramanagar.
Held
The Girinagar police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in six cases of stealing motorcycles and four cases of stealing car spare parts. The police gave the names of the accused as Sayed Amir (20) of Padarayanapura and Zamir Pasha (27) of Haleguddadahalli.
