Focus on single women



ON DISPLAY: A work by Saroj Revankar.

KARNATAKA CHITRAKALA Parishat might be in the news for all the wrong reasons, what with the lease renewal and trust meetings taking all the conversation space. But for artists looking to showcase their talent, the place is still central.

There is an exhibition at the parishat and the latest to enter the scene is Saroj Revankar with her first solo exhibition of paintings called "Living on their own terms." The exhibition will be held from May 16 to May 22. A Bangalore-based self-taught artist, Revankar has been painting mainly in oil media for the last 10 years. A postgraduate in Sociology, her themes vary from traditional, realistic to contemporary art. She has participated in various group shows such as Kala Mela and the parishat's own Chitra Santhe. One look at Revankar's works and you know her focus is on single women, seemingly alone in a given, congested background.
