Security for Yechuri, Raja enhanced

Intelligence inputs say they face "threats from Nepal"

New Delhi: In the wake of threats originating from Nepal, the Government has beefed up the security of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury and Communist Party of India national secretary D. Raja.

The decision to upgrade the security of Mr. Yechury, Mr. Raja and Nationalist Congress Party general secretary D.P. Tripathi was taken after intelligence inputs suggested that they faced "some threat from Nepal."

All three leaders are associated with the Nepal Solidarity Committee in India, an umbrella body that supports restoration of democracy in Nepal. The CPI office received an anonymous telephone call that Mr. Yechury would have to "face consequences" for his deeds . — PTI
