On the 4th board, Syed Anwar Shazuli of ICF played the Rook and pawn ending craftily to outplay V. Giridhar of Hosur in 91 moves.

Visalatchi of Sivakasi held Phoobalan of Coimbatore to a draw, while Kathiravan of Pondicherry upset seasoned campaigner Pounraj of Coimbatore.
