COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who survived an LTTE suicide bomb attack on April 25, is "fast recuperating" and has "regained full consciousness," the Army said. Lt. Gen. Fonseka has been "transferred to the Military Hospital after his stay at the Intensive Care Unit in the Colombo National Hospital," an Army statement said. The Army Commander "has now regained full consciousness suffered injuries only to his abdominal area and needs a short period of rest and relaxation as per advice of the medical experts" and "will resume duties in the near future," the Army said. At least 11 persons, including civilians were killed 25 persons were injured in the attack inside the Army Headquarters in Colombo.
