Rain plays spoilsport

Incheon: Torrential rain lashed the Sky 72 Golf Club and washed out the third round of the SK Telecom Open, which was truncated to a 54-hole affair here on Saturday.

This is the second event on the Asian Tour, after Maybank Malaysian Open, to be reduced to 54 holes due to poor weather.

Jeev Milkha Singh, at 10-under 134, is breathing down the neck of joint leaders Prom Meesawat (133) of Thailand and Iain Steel of Malaysia.

Winner of Volvo China Open last month, Jeev looks in top form as he fired a sizzling seven birdies against a lone bogey to a two-day total of 10-under 134 on Friday.

Compatriot Harmeet Kahlon fired a three-under 69 to join, among others, Michelle Wie at tied 17th while Amandeep Johl (144) is tied for 64th.

Saturday's cancellation means that American teenage sensation Michelle Wie, who made history by becoming the first woman golfer to make the cut on the Asian Tour, will have only one more crack at improving her tied 17th position. — UNI
