CCWI convention to be held today

KOLLAM: The first Kollam diocese convention of the Council of Catholic Women of India (CCWI) will be held at the Bishop Jerome Nagar Jubilee Auditorium here on April 29. The convention will be inaugurated by Vicar General of the diocese David Kandathil at a function to be presided over by diocese president of the CCWI Jane Ancil Francis.

A public meeting in connection with the convention will be inaugurated by Kollam Bishop Stanley Roman. Ms. Francis said at a press conference here on Friday that five destitute women will be given three cents of land each at Eravipuram at the convention.

The CCWI will also extend financial support to 10 girls for their education. The first installment in this connection will be distributed to them at the convention. A job consultancy programme will be conducted to help unemployed women.
