BANGALORE: Three men, who were riding a stolen motorcycle, waylaid two students and robbed them of two mobile phones and Rs. 2,000 in cash in J.C. Nagar police station limits in the early hours of Thursday. The police said Rupith and Ajith, both students and residents of Dinnur Main Road, were walking back home after dropping a friend at Cantonment Railway Station. Around 12.30 a.m., three men, who were riding a motorcycle, stopped them on Jayamahal Main Road. They threatened Rupit and Ajith with knives, robbed them of phones and cash and sped away. A passer-by alerted the R.T. Nagar Police Inspector who was patrolling the area. After the inspector flashed a message on the wireless, the police put up barricades and intercepted the motorcycle near Chinnappa Garden. The three abandoned the motorcycle and ran away. The police chased and caught one of them.
Bag snatched
Two youths, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a bag containing Rs. 4,500 in cash, a mobile phone and credit cards from a woman in Jeevanbimanagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 7.30 p.m., the two snatched the bag from Rekha Shashi Kumar, a private company employee, while she was walking in Geetanjali Layout. On a complaint by Rekha, a resident of C.V. Raman Nagar, the Jeevanbimanagar police have registered a case.
Brown sugar seized
The Adugodi police on Wednesday arrested two persons on charge of drug peddling and seized from them 66 grams of brown sugar estimated at Rs. 6 lakh. The names of the arrested were given as Rasool Ahmed (28) of Bharathinagar and Shakeel (31) of Kadugondanahalli. The two procured narcotics from Mumbai and sold it to students near colleges on Hosur Road.
