Clean sweep by VSP teams

VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), winner at the District-level, claimed all the three team events in the Zonal-level May Day sports meet. The meet was conducted by the Labour Department here recently.

VSP won the volleyball, kabaddi and ball badminton titles. United Millennium Beverages of Ranasthalam (Srikakulam District) was the runner-up in volleyball, while Nellimarla Jute Mills finished second in both kabaddi and ball badminton.

Y. Trinadha Rao of Perpetual Energy Systems of Vizianagaram won the 100 metres race and P. Suseela of Rajahmundry Silk House claimed the 50m race for women. T. Saroja and U. Rama of Rajahmundry Silk House won the tennikoit event.

Vizag boy in State team

V. Venkata Sreenivas of Pendurthy, near here, was selected in the Andhra Pradesh team for the second National Rajiv Gandhi memorial cricket tournament for the disabled, to be held in Hyderabad in July.

Sreenivas, a final year B. Com. student of Dr. V.S. Krishna Government College here, was selected for his all-round abilities during the trials held in Vijayawada by the Andhra Cricket Association for the Disabled, a release from the association said.
