Thiruvananthapuram: A 20-day-old infant was found abandoned at a coconut groove in Kannamkara near Kottappuram in Vizhinjam police station limits on Monday morning. According to the police, the infant boy was found lying beneath a coconut tree at around 8.30 a.m. by the children who were playing near the adjacent plot. Hearing the cries of the infant, the children rushed to the coconut groove owned by Alexander. They informed their parents, who in turn, alerted the local police. A plastic sachet of a textile shop at Pazhavangadi, rope used for tying the cradle, cradle stick and talcum powder were found lying near the newborn. The child did not have any injury marks, the police said. The infant had been rushed to SAT Hospital.
