Tirupur: Defending champion Ajay Srikanth of Chennai along with 22 others sailed into the third round of the boys' section in the 19th Tamil Nadu State under-11 chess championship at the Vivekananda HSS campus here on Saturday. In the girls' section, thirteen players, including top seed J. Vaishnavi of Tiruchi, booked the third round berths with two points apiece. P. Gopalakrishnan, treasurer of Tirupur Sports and Educational Trust (TSET) and K.C. Palanisamy, treasurer of Vivekananda HSS, inaugurated the championship, which has attracted 120 boys and 63 girls. Manual Aaron, the general secretary of the State chess association, was the chief guest.
