CHENNAI:
Residents of Annai Flat Complex on Padikuppam Road in Anna Nagar Western Extension staged a demonstration on Wednesday protesting against lack of civic amenities.
They said municipal authorities failed to provide blacktopped roads, parks, streetlights and storm water drains. There are 162 dwelling units in the complex, where 444 voters have been living for over 17 years. The residents made several representations to the local MLA, MP and the municipal authorities. As a mark of protest, they decided to boycott the elections, the release said. Ambattur municipal chairman K. Rukmangathan and AIADMK's Villivakkam candidate G. Kalan spoke to them.
