NEW DELHI: Voicing concern over the reported destruction of the sacred Braj Hills in Rajasthan, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has urged Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to take all possible steps to immediately stop mining and stone crushing in the area. "I earnestly request you to take all possible steps to immediately stop all forms of mining and stone crushing activity in the sacred Braj hill region to protect these hills as they have great religious, historical and ecological significance," he said in a letter. Mr. Prasad, who recently visited the area, said he was pained to learn about destruction of the heritage hills caused by the reckless mining in Baratpur district. "It is a matter of great concern that the sacred `leela-sthalis' of Lord Krishna are being blown off by using dynamite. All this has caused tremendous resentment and feeling of anguish amongst the Brajwasis and millions of Lord Krishna devotees all the world," the Minister said.
