Sanave pulls out of Thomas Cup

New Delhi: India's prospects at the Thomas Cup badminton finals have received a major setback with men's doubles specialist Sanave Thomas opting out of the championship starting on April 28.

``Sanave is getting married on May 1 and has informed us of his unavailability for the Thomas Cup,'' National coach Vimal Kumar said from Bangalore, where the shuttlers are undergoing training for the men's team event to be held in Sendai, Japan.

``It is a setback for us because he (Thomas) is a specialist doubles player and he and Rupesh Kumar have been our best combination,'' Vimal said. — PTI
