Rahul, Likitha bag titles

Mysore: Unseeded Rahul Adhikari and second-seeded Likitha Shetty (both of Karnataka), hogged the limelight by winning the boys under-12 and girls under-12 singles titles by beating Kashyap (Kar) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 and Shree Sanjana (TN) 6-3, 6-4 respectively on the penultimate day of the AITA Talent Series tennis tournament here on Thursday.

In the boys (u-14) singles semifinals, top seeded C.M. Kiran registered an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over third-seeded Sagar Manjunath (Kar), while second-seeded Chirag Igoor (Kar) got the better of unseeded A. Verabhadhran (TN) 6-2, 6-1.

C.M. Kiran and Chirag teamed up well to clinch the boys' under-14 doubles title beating S. Karan and M.H. Dheeraj Kumar 7-5, 6-2 in the finals.

In the boys under-16 singles, top-seed Vibhav Iyengar and second-seed M.D. Shreyas set up a title clash. They registered good wins over fourth seeded H.J. Prajwal 6-4, 6-4 and fifth seeded Varun Gopal 6-2, 6-4 respectively.

V. Nayanatara of Andhra Pradesh sailed into the finals in the girls' under-14 and U-16 singles.

Semifinals: Kashyap Ashok (Kar)) bt Rishab (AP) 7-5, 6-4; Rahul Adhikari (Kar) bt T. Nehal (AP) 7-5, 2-6, 7-5.

Boys' under-12 doubles (Final): Rishab-T. Nehal (AP) bt S.P. Prasanth-Gautham (TN) 6-0, 6-0.

Boys under-14 singles (Semifinals): C.M. Kiran (Kar) bt Sagar Manjunath (Kar) 6-1, 6-1; Chirag Igoor (Kar) bt A. Veerabhadhran (TN) 6-2, 6-1.

Boys under-16 singles (Semifinals): Vibhav Iyengar (Kar) bt H.J. Prajwal (Kar) 6-4, 6-4; M.D. Shreyas (Kar) bt Varun Gopal (Kar) 6-2, 6-4.

Boys' under-16 doubles (Final): H.J. Prajwal-Varun Gopal (Kar) bt Vibhav Iyengar-M.D. Shreyas (Kar) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Girls' under-12 singles (Final): Likitha Shetty (Kar) bt Shree Sanjana (TN) 6-3, 6-4.

Semifinals: Likitha Shetty (Kar) bt Apeksha V Raker (Kar) 6-3, 6-1; Shree Sanjana (TN) bt Spurthi (Kar) 6-3, 6-2.

Girls under-16 singles (Semifinals): V. Nayanatara (AP) bt Shreya Ravichandran (TN) 7-6 (5), 6-2; Anusha V Singla (TN) bt Rachana Gowda (Kar)) 7-5, 6-3.

Girls under-14 singles: V. Nayanatara (AP) bt Shree Sanjana (TN) bt 6-3, 6-1; Rachana Gowda (Kar) bt Likitha Shetty (Kar) 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
