Cinema achievement awards announced

BANGALORE: Sri Raghavendra Chitravani, the 29-year-old premier publicity agency of Kannada cinema, has announced its cinema achievement awards in nine categories for 2005 to individuals in recognition of their contribution to Kannada cinema.

The award winners are: S. Ramanathan and S. Shivaram (producer); K.S. L. Swamyee (Ravee) (director); B. M. Krishnaswamy (film journalism); Bhavani Lakshminarayan (photo journalist); M. N. Lakshmi Devi (actor); Hamsalekha (music director); Ramesh Aravind (story) and M. S. Ramesh (dialogues). The award for directing the film for the first time goes to Ratnaja of Nenapirali fame.

The awards will be presented on April 16.
