NEW DELHI: Bina Ramani, one of the key witnesses in the Jessica Lal murder case, presented herself before the police at the office of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch on Tuesday. She returned from Thailand on Monday night after attending her niece's marriage. Ms. Ramani said she went to the EOW office and met the members of the special team that is probing into the alleged destruction of evidence and fabrication of records in the Jessica Lal murder case as per the direction of the High Court. "The police had over a week ago given me a set of questions pertaining to the incident to which I have submitted my replies," she added. It is learnt that Ms. Ramani had been asked questions about the sequence of events following Jessica's murder inside her restaurant, including the factors that allegedly led to tampering of the crime scene before the police arrived. In another development, Special Commissioner of Police U.K. Katna said on Tuesday that he had learnt about Jessica's sister Sabrina's allegation in an interview to a weekly magazine that just before a case was registered this March to investigate the "lapses" in the probe, Arunachal Pradesh Director-General of Police Amod Kanth, the then Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police of southern range, called her up for a meeting. Sabrina alleged that Mr. Kanth asked her to persuade the incumbent Commissioner to include investigating officer of Jessica's case Surender Sharma, the then Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Gogia and Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Yadav in the probe.
