New Rs. 500 notes

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday said it would shortly issue banknotes in the denomination of Rs. 500 with the insert letter `L' in both numbering panels in the Mahatma Gandhi series-2005. The new notes would carry additional security features.

"Except for the change in the insert letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to those issued earlier in the Mahatma Gandhi series." — PTI
