Road widening According to press reports, the widening of Karamana-Poojappura-Malayinkeezh-Kattakkada-Mandapathinkadavu road into a 12-metre stretch is being taken up using the Central Road funds. The Public Works Department should expedite the work on this stretch for the smooth vehicular traffic and for the development of the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. V.G. Balakrishnan, Karamana. Imperfect weights Wayside vendors selling fruits, vegetables and other articles are a regular sight in the city. However, it is not known whether they use weights and balances verified and stamped by the Inspector of Legal Metrology to weigh their wares. The certificate of verification issued by the officials concerned should be with the vendor, the rules say. The authorities must ensure that these vendors used valid weights and balances. S. Paul Dhason, Muttada. Readers may e-mail their
