Killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: Prakash Babu, 27, an empanel conductor attached to the Pappanamcode depot of the KSRTC and a resident of Ayinimood, died this afternoon after the two-wheeler he was riding lost control and fell into a sewage canal at Paroorkkuzhi, near Ayinimood. The victim, who sustained severe head injury, died on the spot. His friend Shibu, 26, a resident of Mannarmuttom Colony who was pillion riding with him has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital here with injuries.

Banking facility

Thiruvananthapuram: The 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. banking facility introduced by the State Bank of Travancore will start functioning from Monday. However, on Saturdays the facility will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Staff Reporter

VSSC engineer dead

Thiruvananthapuram: A.N. Viswanathan, 57, senior engineer at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre here passed away following a massive heart attack on Saturday. Mr. Viswanathan hails from Thrissur and has been at the VSSC with its avionics group. He is survived by his wife and two children. — Staff Reporter
