BANGALORE: The Bangalore Telecom District (BTD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has published its main telephone directory in three volumes in English and four volumes in Kannada.

The directory in English, which appears to be user-friendly, has a cover page displaying logos and telephone numbers of public utility services.

Chief General Manager of Karnataka Telecom Circle S. Ramaganapathy released the directory on Friday. BTD Principal General Manager R.K. Arnold and Getit Infomediary Corporate Vice-President Raghavendra Sastry were present. The BTD has been issuing a directory for 17 years now.

The directory in English lists 9,41,921 telephones in 2,832 pages. The first volume contains Information Pages, and Business and Government listings, and the second and third volumes have residential and rural listings.

Information Pages have been redesigned for easy access to information on services offered by the BSNL and telephone numbers of public utilities.

Tariff for BSNL services has been displayed in colour in the first few pages.

Features include information about One India Tariff Plan, IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) services; telephone numbers/addresses of franchisees/BSNL officers; lists of telecom centres and post offices in Bangalore with PIN; a common application form for all BSNL services, and "customer satisfaction survey" form.

The BTD's main directory in Kannada has 4,280 pages.

Directories of telecom districts in Karnataka have been made available in CD-ROM. The CD-ROM versions, which have been updated till December 31, 2005, contain 27.76 lakh entries.

The directory is also available on the BTD website, www.bangaloretelecom.com. Internet users can search for telephone numbers of subscribers all over the country. The website directory is updated daily.

The BTD will begin directory distribution in the second week of April. The directory will be made available at telephone exchanges, customer service centres and mobile counters.

The BSNL has published the directory in association with GETIT Infomediary Ltd.
