Balaji, Jackie Shroff open ODI ticket sales

KOCHI: After Imran Khan and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, the cricketer L.Balaji Fan Club admitted one more prominent member to the long list at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Thursday afternoon. "I'm a big fan of Balaji, I hope he comes back to the Indian team soon," said Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff during the ticket sales inauguration function of the April 6 India-England one-day international in the city. Balaji, who hopes to return to competitive cricket in May, after a long injury layoff, handed over the match tickets to the Federal Bank, the ODI's official banker. Jackie Shroff conducted the first sale. The tickets will be available at select branches of the Federal Bank from Thursday. — Staff Reporter

Boat develops snag

KOCHI: A boat belonging to the State Water Transport Corporation developed engine problems while cruising in the Kochi backwaters on Thursday. A reserve boat was pressed into service and passengers were shifted to this boat. — Staff Reporter
